Why is the Test Performed?
If you have diabetes symptoms, your doctor may order this test. The provider will almost certainly order a fasting blood sugar test.
The blood glucose test is also used to monitor diabetic patients.
You may also be tested if you have:
- An increase in the frequency with which you must urinate
- I recently gained a significant amount of weight.
- Vision impairment
- Confusion or a shift in your usual speech or behaviour
- Spells that cause fainting
- Seizures (for the first time)
- Coma or unconsciousness
