VDRL Test
Pre test Information : No Special Preparation Needed
The VDRL test is a syphilis screening test. It measures antibodies, which are substances (proteins) that your body may produce if you come into contact with the bacteria that cause syphilis.
Why is the Test Performed?
This test is used to detect syphilis. Treponema pallidum is the name of the bacteria that causes syphilis.
If you have signs and symptoms of a sexually transmitted illness, your doctor may order this test (STI).
Syphilis testing is now a standard part of prenatal care.
The rapid plasma reagin (RPR) test is similar to this one.
