Uroflowmetry

Uroflowmetry

In a urine flow test, the rate of urine flow is calculated over time. It could be used to examine the functioning of the sphincter and bladder.

The urinary tract includes the bladder. It is a muscular hollow organ that relaxes and enlarges to hold urine. Then it flattens and compresses to force urine through the tube that exits the body from the bladder (urethra).

Circular in shape, the sphincter muscle. It securely encloses the bladder opening, acting as a rubber band. By doing this, pee leaks are prevented.

You will urinate into a unique funnel that is attached to a measuring gadget for this test. The gadget computes the volume of urine, the flow rate in seconds, and the amount of time required for all of the urine to be passed. This data is used to assess how well the lower urinary tract is functioning. It also aids in determining whether the regular flow of urine is being blocked.

The initial urine stream begins slowly with typical urinating. But once the bladder is almost empty, it accelerates. Once the bladder is empty, the urine flow gradually slows down once more. This pattern of flow is altered in those who have a urinary tract obstruction and increases and drops more gradually. The urine flow test graphs this data while taking your gender and age into account.
